  what are the rewards for not being a witness any longer

  if the carrot and stick aspect of being jehovahs witnesses upset you how do you reclaim your desire for reward?

  i'm assumng that you all agree with me that feeling rewarded is a basic human desire.

  how much effort do you think we should put into trying to make our lives rewarding?

  Life is so much sweeter now . As joeblow stated :

  " The reward for me is the freedom to think and reason for myself... to not be told what to think... to no longer live in fear of being "found out"... and to not live a lie. Living a lie is a soul sucking self destructive way to exist...."

  I love my life now ,it feels real, and I am truly happy . Life as a witness felt like I was always trying to live someone elses' idea of living .

  My husband and I live a very simple unpretenscious life ,but it is now OUR life .

  Another Armageddon Thread...This Time May be for REAL?!?

  with the ensuing unrest in north africa and the middle east, i wonder if some "zealous" brothers and sisters are saying: "this is it!!!"..

  didn't armageddon suppose to start in the mideast?

  isn't the unrest moving closer and closer to israel?

  i was browsing some of the businesses and schools that already closed since the big blizzard is going to hit tomorrow.. one thing caught my eye : .

  jehovah lutheran school.

  It was a surprise to me how much other religions use Jehovah too . THe Methodist church down the street has songs in their hymns that use Jehovah and I have heard the Pastor use it in his sermons .

  Keep the Watchtower out of your Facebook account.

  with all the posts about the society hacking into facebook accounts, this new setting which was implemented today might be of some use for many people.. http://gawker.com/5744229/the-facebook-setting-you-should-change-as-quickly-as-possible.

  one of the nice additions, besides using https protocols is the addition of having the option to be notified via e-mail if your account is accessed from a new computer or mobile device.

  this will enable you to hopefully track the hacker and notify the authorities of suspected cyber crimes.. the watchtower would finally be able to be prosecuted for their hacking into jw and ex-jw accounts.. .

  for a long while i have been coming to this site on a daily basis and i think it is time to introduce myself.

  here we go: my parents learned the truth when i was 4 and i don't have childhood memories of how life was before they converted.

  i was a model jw child, although quite mischievous at school.

  NVR2L8 ,Welcome to you ! There are so many of us that have such similar awakenings ....looking around at the older ones at the DC and thinking that will be us very soon ,was definitely a thought I had . Much of what got my mind working was first from the Watchtower Society itself not apostate sites .....those only confirmed what I already suspected .

  I hope your wife will join you in really living the rest of your life .....

  just heard from a friend that a nearby body of elders in their congregation have decided that anybody who is on facebook will not be able to have privleges in their congregation.. hilarious!.

  OOPs .....DY I am sorry you took that as me saying you shouldn't be here . Not what I meant ,really . I just was trying to understand how your experience is so different than mine . We noticed the mid-west congregations (especially small ones ) were much more strict and into everyones personal business than large coastal cities .

  I went back and read some of your early posts .You have been around here a very long time . Then you took a break and came back again . It has to be hard to be married to an active spouse and yet have dep down doubts about the religion . I assume you are trying to come to terms with your own cognitive dissonance ,and that's cool . We all are learning at different speeds and have different circumstances .

  No kidding ...it must be very hard on your conscience to come here and post when you are still struggling with not wanting to believe the Society is wrong . I get it .

  Didn't mean to step on your toes there . DO what you got to do .....

  Hey Doubtfully Yours ,I have just been wondering have YOU ever been counseled for being on this site ???

  Because when I was actively attending it was abundantly clear we should never visit discussion forumns known to be active with apostate views . We were told not to even open a letter from an apostate in fear of reading and being stumbled by their 'half truths' . How is it you have such a different experience as a Witness than me ? I was a witness all my life ,44, yrs . and you always seem to disagree with others about HOW things really are in the congregation .

  I am being serious . Are you in an American congregation ? Is it in a large city or small town ? Midwest or coastal ?

  That is what our former Elders did back in 2004 for anyone on Myspace (was facebook around then ? ) If you had an account you could not aux pioneer or have other wonderful privledges ....you could still clean the hall and mow the lawn though . They ragged on any chat forums and social networks from the stage ,but only made the other ultimatium to people in personal discussions . Many of the teens and twenty somethings just learned to change their names online by using symbols or aka names .

  I have noticed recently several local MS and Pioneers have deleted their facebook accounts it is a ego game around here they like to play to see who is more righteous ,but in a few months they will be back under assumed names.

  this subject thread has been on my mind for a while, especially after seeing "zombieland" and foodall's thread about our possible ufo/reptilian over lords/realion/alien invaders.

  when the great day of reckoning comes, whether it be from ufo alien invaders, realian reptilian over lords, demons in human-hybrid form, or just plain old virus-infected zombies, what will you be carrying to defend yourself from the hostile forces of e-vile?

  please, no one say a "bible" or i'm going to just laugh my ass off.
